Not really, approximately 41% of all printed non-hardback material is sold through independent newsagents, who are indeed mostly indian and arabic, but the majority is still sold through integrated outlets (those stands which only sell their own newspaper) or large corporations (WH Smiths etc)

yes completley i almost had a heart attack the other day when i walked into a news agents and found it was owned by a chinese couple i felt like i had just spotted a white lion!!!

Only because, when they were asked by the British government to come and aid the labour force in the 1950s, those were the types of jobs on offer to them.

Now clearly, second and third generations have an opportunity to become something else in life, but even so, the Asian corner shop is run by a family who rely on their children to carry on their business.
