Have U planted trees in locations that shadow your roof from the Sun on Summer days? Has it cut your AC costs?

  1. I can't say how much it cuts the elec. costs, but it definately does. I live in FL & we have trees on the back & one side of our home. the rooms in the front of the house are definately warmer than the ones near the trees.

    also, my parents also here in FL do not have trees shading their home. they leave their windows open more than I do, and we still seem to have about the same elec. bill each month. so although I leave my AC on more, our bills are about the same b/c my AC doesn't have to work that hard when its on.

  3. I have trees taller than my house on two sides that are within 20 ft.  my electric bill is not bad in the summer.  but i live in indiana.  and also i put one of those solar powered attic fans.

    also, i have to clean out my gutters....A LOT

  4. Most defiantly yes! Plus I put some covers up over my air conditioners in order to shade them from the sun, which helped out greatly!
