Question:

Have You Ever Had Any Problems With Horses At A Wedding?

We spoke to our wedding planner and she was saying that sometimes it is a good fantasy for the wedding couple to leave the church via a horse and buggy but she was explaining its bad parts.

She said that since horses are animals they can be unpredictable at the wrong times. She mentioned one time a horse went to the bathroom as people were leaving the service and they couldn't do outdoor photos because the dung stunk up the street.

Another time a horse went unstable and threw the driver off and he had to be sent to the hospital.

Is this common for stage-coach horses. Would you have it at your wedding and take these risks?

  1. I'm having it at my wedding.  The horse and buggy is going to bring me out at the beginning of the ceremony.  I can't wait!  Sure there are risks, but aren't there risks for everything?  I say go for it!

  2. There is a local place (Allendale Mansion) that had a couple leave in a horse drawn carriage several years back.  There was an unfortunate accident and I believe both the B&G were killed; if they both weren't the surviving one was severely injured with lifetime disabilites.  I look for the story and post a link if I find it.  Just for the 1 in 100 chance of it happeing I'd not even consider it.  Just too scary for me....

  3. My planner told me the same thing your planner told you. So I opt to release butterflies.

The horse & buggy was a risk; I wasn't willing to take. I've also seen some crazy stuff on America Funniest Home Videos., It's not worth ruining your wedding day.,

  4. Well If you get a reliable place to hire the buggy/horses from I don't think its a bad idea.

Its not common for that to happen, really.

I would have it at my wedding, its romantic and just get some reccomendations and check out a few places. Ask them if they have ever had that problem.

Its big news when something like that happens because it doesn't happen much.

  5. I've always dreamed of a horse and buggy at my wedding for the transportation of the bride and groom from the church to the reception place (especially after seeing my cousin having that at her wedding). I however, changed my mind when I got prices, and it is not pratical for us financially. I have never heard of any of those two things happening, but it sounds like I something I wouldnt want to chance happening especially on my wedding day.
