  1. Well my family did this before the whole "go green" thing but we hang clothes out on the clothes line to dry when its nice instead of using the dryer!!

  2. I recycle, I have planted my very first veggie garden (or well any garden for that matter)! I am trying to grow enough veggies that my family and I can eat them through the summer and so I can can too! I am starting to make my own cleaners so that way I'm not using all the chemicals. I hang my laundry (well did until the other day my clothes line broke! all my clean clothes (wet clean clothes) fell onto my freshly cut grass how nice eh? and now I try to buy my fruit and veggies at the market and toyday i just found an Organic range fed butcher. I reuse my material bags and when I can to where I am going.

    'I buy into all this'

because it is real. You ever stop and wonder why the cancer rate is so high and why people are always getting sick? we are using our bodies basically as guina pigs. No one has had as large of a chemical and pollution intake as we do. it in the air we Breth the food we eat the water we drink and bath in. And I knew my son deserved better.....

I wanted to keep him as poison/chemical free as possible, and in doing so I have become more healthy and notice a huge difference in how I feel.

  3. partly not by choice. but I do whatever I can to minimize my carbon footprint on this world.

  4. i love animals im a vegetarian and i do recycle!~

  5. Well, pollution is a real thing, global warming is a real thing, animals becoming extinct is really happening, loss of rain forests and all that jazz. Its easy to just believe its all just a trend and if you are not aware in the facts about what is going on in the world it's easy to write it off as a bunch of B.S.  It's a touchy subject. I help any way I can just out of respect for the earth. No I don't have all the latest green "stuff" but as it becomes more available and the technology progresses, I'll do what I can just because I care. There is a need for "greener" energy's so that produces new products that produces advertisement.  It's strange to me that some people think its "uncool" like its some weird idea out if a sci-fie book. And that it is so hard for people to get around this subject . Anyways all this to say "YES " there is a big need for a mild effort of the human population to be a little cleaner.

I recycle what I can. I use the energy saving light bulbs. I leave my lights off as much as I can. I avoid driving when I can. I'll take the buss. Gas is so expensive anyways. On top of it all, it saves people money. I air dry my cloths. If you really want to understand this whole "green movement" go research the latest on the environment, and the facts about the state of the planet. If nothing else its good Carma.

  6. Yes I recylce cans and bottles for money and paper cardboard and what ever else for free. Also ride bike places insded of drive.

  7. I Share my Bath............ is That Green?

  8. I really try to be green! Here's what I do to try and do my part:

I recycle almost everything. At work, I insisted for a long time to get access to recycling bins and now we do! When there isn't a recycling bin around, I simply bring the "trash" home to recycle it.

At home on my balcony, I also have a big flower pot that I use for compos. I don't compos everything (I don't want harmful bugs or worms around... my neighbours wouldn't like me). Basically, I put soil in it, skin from veggies, tea bags, egg shells...  Sometimes I have to add more soil and mix it. It doesn't smell at all and helps reduce the trash.

I also cut down on time in the shower.

Put two full bottles on water in the toilet tank (this way, every time I flush, I save 1.4 litre of water, without compromising the efficacy of the flush)

I use my bike to go to work (it's 3 km) rather than driving and walk to the shops.

I wear a bigger sweater in the Winter rather than cranking up the heat. I don't use a A/C in the Summer.

I use flo-compact lights and electronic thermometers.

I bring my own re-usable bags when I do my shopping to save on plastic bags.

If I can, I buy product that are biodegradable or made with recycled material over other products.

Amazingly.... most of my friends do the same. Members of my family as well. My neighbours in my area also do a lot of these little things!

I do it because I see the impact pollution is having on the environment. I believe it's the little things that can help save the planet!

    Hope this answers your questions!

  9. Why?  Earth is not something to be used up and disposed!  If WE don't protect our environment, who will?  And in some cases, recycling saves money!  Now, who doesn't love that?

We recycle plastic, glass, aluminum and tin cans, newspapers and magazines.  I belong to the local Freecycle.org group and post the items we no longer want/need on there to pass along to someone who needs them and keep stuff out of the landfills.  We compost our kitchen and yard waste to make our own "fertilizer" for our flower and vegetable gardens.  These reduce the amount of garbage we have to pay the garbage man to take.

I use a front loading, water saving clothes washer.  Only run the dishwasher when full. And only dry clothes in the dryer about 1/2 way and hang them to dry.  Bedding goes outside to dry.   We take showers instead of baths, turn the water off while brushing our teeth, collect rainwater in a rain barrel to water our plants with.  I use as few chemicals to clean with as possible; even bought a steam cleaner to use and love it!  We use CFL's although I wish they'd take the mercury out somehow.  We practice organic gardening as much as we possibly can, feed the birds year round so they provide "natural" bug control.  We plant and/or maintain trees and shrubs for habitat for the birds, provide shade and to help clean the air.  We drive as little as possible, plan errands to be efficient in both time and fuel use.  We keep the tires on the vehicles properly inflated and practice good maintenance to keep fuel mileage at it's best.

I am also in the process of recaulking and painting the house (big, old house) with insulating paint.  The winter after I caulked all the windows on just the outside, our heating bill was reduced by nearly 1/3.  Now working on the trim and soffit areas.

Yes, we've had to make a dedicated effort on some things but in the end it's well worth it!  Lower water bills, heating bills, electric bills, garbage bills, gas expenses all save us $$ and help save the environment!

  10. The only way to TRULY 'go green' so to speak would involve you living in the forest. Otherwise, 'going green' is an idealist but unrealistic trend that most people are very hypocritical about.
