Have You Heard About This Letter?

Russ Suskind, who is a Pulitzer Prize winner, has written a new book which will come out soon. In the book is a segment about a phony letter, which Suskind claims was written by George W. Bush, to convince the public that his attack on Iraq was justified. According to Suskind, the letter was completely fake, its composition supervised by Bush. Questioned by Wolf Blitzer on CNN, Suskind said he stands behind his words. However, Condoleezza Rice denied the existence of such a phony letter, saying..."Your government...your White House..would never do such a thing!." My question is, have you heard about this letter? Do you think Bush would go this far to convince the public on the need for War in Iraq?

  1. I have heard of Suskind, at the time his book was mentioned.  The alleged phony letter is the claim to fame of this book.

I do not recall, however, this letter being proposed as a reason to justify the war.  The claims of the existence of WMD were at the forefront of the arguments for going to war against Iraq.  There were also numerous other things, such as the revelation that the oil for food program was being undermined, by the current UN Secretary General's son no less (Sec-Gen is the highest position in the UN); Saddam was exchanging oil for money and who knows what else.

  2. No, I had not previously heard about this, thank you for something to look into further!  Sounds very interesting
