Hello,

I am looking for more information about Grandmaster Frederick Godfrey Taylor, a karate expert who I was told was on the cover of Time Magazine back in the day.

The only information I have is that he received a GOLDEN LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD back in 1999.

If you find any history about him, pictures, links from Time Magazine, please let me know.

Thank you.

  1. No.

  2. Sorry never heard of the guy

  3. WKO is a poor attempt by some people to try and attain the respectability and recognition of WUKO .WUKO tournaments are usually bare knuckle contact matches that allow sweeps and throws and is attended by practioners of all the major recognized styles .Made up styles and associations need not apply.

That should give you some idea what an award from WKO is worth.

  4. Only thing I have been able to find on him was his Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999 from the World Karate Union. Searched just the name, Grandmaster Taylor, and all of it together. You would think that with a WKU lifetime award, he would have at LEAST a wiki hit, but strangely, he does not...

Be aware of the title Grandmaster; there are quite a few out there who claim this title, bu it's origin and validity is questionable at best, and outright inflated at worst. I am not disparaging Mr. Taylor because I do not know him, but the fact that there is precious little (read NONE) information other than his listing with the WKU (which looks a bit dubious at first glance) is a bit suspicious.
