  1. yes. nothing I can do to "fight" it but go in another direction.

  2. yes, many times.

and no, it does no good.

i will however stand up for others who are being racially attacked.

you can't fight ignorance, but you can embarrass them.

  3. Absolutely. When I got out of the Army, I was thinking about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, and decided that becoming a fireman was a good choice. However, the city and county I lived in had an indefinite hiring freeze on White males at the time.

d**n affrmative action, and it's state equivalent--blatant racism. I met every other qualification.

Also, we are bombarded every day by racism. Pretty much anytime there is a TV show or movie where there are a White and Black character, it's the Black dude who is cool and funny, and the White guy who is portrayed as a dork--I'm tired of this c**p.

  4. Yes, I experience it everyday where we live. It is rampant among partisan Republicans. The other day I had a fellow walk up to me at a gas pump and iterate, "I ain't voting for no crow and I for d**n sure ain't voting for no God d**n woman." It is reprehensible I know, but although people of the bible belt have become very adept at hiding their racist tendencies, those tendencies  are still very prevalent around here. By the way, our minds in this household are made up, we are voting for Obama, as we did in the primary. For middle-aged white people who vote in all elections we are eligible to, the racists and Republicans have much to be wary of in this Fall's election. I did confront the ignorant hillbilly redneck and came dangerously close to going to blows as a result. Confrontation is not always the best course of action around this state, as you more than likely are out numbered. Thank goodness for the electoral college and a few decent, caring citizens who are not mired in the hate of racism.

  5. Walking into a train station in New Jersey, I overheard a Caucasian man say "d**n ni**ers aren't citizens!" I turned around and asked the man to repeat himself aloud but denied having said anything. Also, living in New York City(one of the most segregated cities in America) for 12 years, I've experienced many subtle forms of racism. For example,  upon walking into retail stores, employees suddenly became more cautious and observant. I've also experienced racism on the other side of the fence, because I am of a lighter complexion than most blacks. In grade school, I remember a girl didn't want to share her doritos with me because she thought I was "too white." It's really ridiculous.

  6. Yes.

No - I don't see the point.  I have no desire in associating with someone that's so ignorant, closed-minded & unintelligent.

  7. Yes, in several instances from all sides of the fence. Where I'm from, the white folks are much more subtle about it; they know racism is bad, but they tend to think in terms of them and us, not all of us together. "Why do you want to hang out with them?" How can you find her attractive?". Questions like that have been asked of me before, and those are pretty easy to confront with friends.

I remember one time however when i went into a "black owned and operated" store, just to see what stuff they were selling, neat imports from africa. The guy behind the counter told my dad and i we weren't welcome there, and it would be best if we left. So that's what we did. Anyway it seems the best way to deal with that sort of stuff is to just not give the guy any business; can't make a pofit if you're going to deter customers.

  8. You won't believe how many times!

I live in a small town with angry coal miners! It's expected to experience racism if you're a foreigner or African American.

If it's not directly at me, then I just ignore the coment.

In order for an ignorant person to realize that they're wrong, they have to be a bit smart. Therefore, they won't know.

They're not going to change their mind.

Now, if I'm directly insulted at then of course, I'm going to react. It's only human nature to do so or at least to want to.
