  1. Banks have shorted me thru an hosest mistake and have made it right.

Businesses are honest for the most part.

The State has been stealing from me for over 40 years and there is nothing I can do about it.

  2. I wouldn't call it stealing because there is always justification for what  you're"cashing out."  Know what I mean, like taxes.

Twice a bank did not send the correct amount of money that was written on the check.  One check I wrote $100.00. They sent $1.00 and I was penalized for late payment.  The second time, it was something like $32.49.  My account was overdrawn and other checks bounced because they sent $302.49.  They made the correction, but once I got all my money back, I closed the account and went to another bank.

I think one of the biggest rip off are the taxes and fees on a telephone bill.  There is nothing we can do about it.

  3. Yes.. I bought a small business .  when the city it was in couldn't catch the old owner for back taxes they made me pay taxes that she owed ... my other choice was to lose my business.  They had me so they didn't try to hard to get the money from her ... she was a few states away .

  4. Some years ago, a local branch charged me $10 each month for a credit card account I had opened but seldom used; when I checked the account opening form, the account was supposed to be free. I brought in 6 months of statements, they agreed, and closed the fee.

I was never repaid for those erroneous charges.

Another bank would charge a fee if I let the balance in a checking account fall below $500. I fixed that, then found they had raised the minimum to $1000, then some time later to $1500. I collared the manager, who then cut the the fee to $0, but said I would not collect interest. OK- at 1-1/2%, there as little loss there.

Retail stores strive to curry favor with the public- few problems.

The State- I'm trying to regain money sent them (+/- $2K) by a brokerage who had let a dormant account lapse without notifying me- Jeez!
