Question:

Have Your Children or Pets Seen Ghosts?

We have two young children and a dog, and I've never given much thought to it before we moved into our current house, but some of the things that happen here seem strange.

For instance, I've noticed that when both of our children were very young they would frequently look over my shoulder and smile at something that was behind me. It was clear that they were focusing on something becuase they would also often giggle but the only thing in their field of vision would be a plain wall or the ceiling. They also seemed to be talking to whatever they were seeing.

As for my dog, she has a habit of coming dowstairs and staring at one windowless dark corner of our house at around 3:45 AM and barking for several minutes. Every time I go downstairs to see what's going on, there's nothing to be found. I would write it off as a mouse or light issue, but it's the same corner, same time and we don't live near any roads or street lights.

Both could be explained easily, but what do you think

  1. It sounds like you are finding imaginative (and unnecessarily complicated) explanations for natural events.  You have no way of knowing what your infant or dog was looking at.  These are two entirely unrelated events.

  2. Well, no.

A couple of the neighbor kids say they see fairies in the garden all the time.

  3. Hmm,that's very interesting. Most people believe that animals and children can see ghosts/spirits.Theres a theory out there that ghosts/spirits are drawn to animals and children because of their energy and innocence.Your children could perhaps be psychic and have the abilty to see the ghosts and spirits.

As for your dog,it may be some sort of residual energy he's picking up on.It's a very well known fact that animals can see and sense paranormal activity.Because it's happenng at the same tim every morning,it would lead me to believe that it's some residual energy that's been left at your house. You could call a priest to bless your house and that should remove all of the paranormal activity alltogether.

The next time you children start looking around, ask them what they see and you may get the answer your looking for.

  4. Sometimes my dog reacts just like she would to a human, but I don't see anyone there.  I mean she is looking, really focused where a face would be if someone was standing in front of her.  She barks and reacts exactly the way she would if someone came to our door.  But it will be just me and her alone in the house and I don't see anyone.  so it creeps me out.  I think she sees a ghost.  I lost someone almost a year ago and I wish I could say I feel their presence or sense them, but I don't.  Maybe she does.

  5. well yes (but the how and why I cannot say)

  6. I do work for the History Channel and that often times takes the form of pre-production.  One project was in Western Pennsylvania and I was travelling back and forth from Annapolis to Ligonier, PA for a French and Indian War docu-drama we were doing.

Anyway, I stopped off at Sharpsburg, Maryland because my dog was panting like crazy because it was hot and my truck's AC wasnt working properly.  So I figured:  lets go to Burnside's Bridge and let him drink at the creek.

He got into the Creek on the Union side and started drinking, only to snap his head up and begin barking/growling and making the most hideous noise I have ever heard.

The dog in question is an English Mastiff.  VERY large (about 165 lbs) and VERY tame/docile.  He doesnt even bark if someone rings the doorbell.  but at that moment, I was SERIOUSLY concerned because he was acting as if he wanted to charge someone/thing across that creek.

I pulled back on his leash and he turned and looked at me, still with the hair on the back of his neck sticking up, growling and then, when he saw me, realized it was okay.

He went back to drinking only to do it all again in about 10 seconds.

After I thought it through (mlitarily) he was growling and barking at the spot, across the creek, where Confederates would have been shooting at the approaching Federal (or Union) forces would have been.  And he was NOT happy.

I got him up out of the water and we were walking towards the Confederate side (where my truck was parked) and he continued to growl and bark the entire way...until we reached the halfway point on the bridge. Then it all stopped and his tail started wagging like nothing had happened.

I am convinced he was seeing Confederate troops shooting towards us and sensed the danger.

Dogs and cats are particularly capable of seeing things we dont.

they are excellent alarms for paranormal activity in my opinion.

  7. I was at friends house, her infant son was playing on the floor and he stopped and was staring at the doorway between the kitchen and living room and started smiling like someone was there playing with him and her dog jumped off the couch ran to the doorway barking like he did when someone new was around. But there didn't seem to be anything there. At least nothing any of us could see.

I do believe that cats, dogs and young children, before they are conditioned not to believe the things that aren't able to be scientifically explained, do see ghost's or spirits.

  8. Yes...my dogs used to see something when I lived in a different place. One time one of them growled and got upset and backed up. I left (with the dog) and soon moved away.

In a place before that one...sometimes my dogs would look at me in a strange way...as though they saw something/someone. I didn't think much about it at the time...although I did wonder about it. Now that I know more about the paranormal...I believe someone/something was around me. I regret not researching more about the paranormal..but then I didn't have a computer and there weren't  many books on it at the library. And, I was going to church a lot and thought God was with me protecting me.  So during that time..I would have thought it was angels around me. I do know now that something spiritual was going on in that house. Lots of things happened there that didn't happen other places. I moved to another state one time...and nothing seemed to happen there.  Go figure!

  9. Children live in the present moment and don't live their lives with the heavy baggage of what society deems to be truth. Young children, before the age of 9 or 10 appear to have a sixth sense when it comes to seeing and hearing spirits or paranormal phenomena. The innocence of children, being that their minds have not been conditioned not to believe in such things, open mindedness, the "wanting of a playmate or friend," ( hence the imaginary friend factor - who may not be so imaginary after all ), being curious of things and surroundings, all help and influence children to see ghosts easier than adults do.

As children grow older, teachings of parents, schools, adult figures, religion, being sensitive, belief's of other children, etc., will all influence if the child will continue to see spirits or not, or later on learn to accept or fear them also - or both.

As for an owner of many from cats to horses, they are "super sensative".  I don't know if they can see one, but the possibility exsists that they may be able to sense one.
