  1. This is the red neck way. Be sure the mower is out of gear I guess it is a rider. Find the solenoid follow the red wire off the battery when you find it take a s***w driver and jump across it if the starter tries to engage it is OK. Then check your gear shift, clutch or break peddle, seat, and blade engagement for a little switch one of them is ether bad or has gotten out of place a little and is not closing the circuit to allow your mower to start. I would almost bet this is the problem. They are just little plastic switches with a push button that has to be pushed in for the mower to start. Start with the one on the seat it will be easiest to see and you will know what you are looking for.

  2. I agree with Terry.

Most times for mine is a loose connection on one of those safeties. I have replaced a starter or two, but it was never the soleniod, it was always the starter too weak.

If you get no "click" sound,  I bet is it not completing the circuit to it someplace.

  3. tak the starter off he mower and see if it will turn with a battery.

  4. Like any four stroke engine it is probable that either you have no spark at the plug or the petrol /air mix is incorrect. 1; Take the spark plug out reattatch to lead and hold against engine fins whilst attempting to start. there should be a spark between the contacts, if so your plug is ok,clean and replace.2. Check that your air cleaner isnt blocked, oily, or clogged with grass. Unless you have a blockage in your carb, it should start,B and S engines are virtually unkillable unless you either have no oil or too much in the oil tank.
