Replaced the thermostat with a lower temp one,but it still runs at around 220-230.The fan comes on all the time and this happens when I drive long distances or short. What else could be the problem?

  1. Don't mess with the thermostat,( put the same temp that come in you car==l) This will ""fool"" the computer and cause a host of problems . Make sure rad, is clean , and anti freeze  installed .  Test rad, cap.  See if fan blades are not slipping on fan shaft.   Make sure fan is running all the time when hot, 1 or 2 fans?? Could be a limit switch relay out.  I presume you have electric  fans  If not ,, Could be the fan clutch on pulley driven fan set /up.  .

  2. well it could be a radiator hose, heater core, heater control valve, radiator, water pump, heater hoses, freeze plug, intake gasket, head gasket, take it to a shop and have it checked out before you blow up the engine
