  1. If fuel is misted down the intake or if the choke is left on does the motor continue to run?  What is the compression?  Is the idle mixture set correctly?  How is the fuel?  How long does the motor run before quiting?  If the engine runs for a second then shuts off, the problem could be poor compress, improperly adjust carbs, poor spark, or the syn and link is way off.  If the engine runs long enough to drain the fuel out of the carbs (pumping the fuel ball keeps it running) then the fuel pump is probably bad.  I fuel pressure gauge will confirm this.  If you can give me more details, I can send you in a more specific direction.


  2. Next thing I would be checking is the primer bulb on the fuel line.

    Check for cracks, make sure the clamps are tight.  Then you might have to start looking at the fuel pump. What year motor?
