It is a 1994 Lincoln Mark VII. I was coming out of a parking space and my car kept reversing no matter what gear I was in and I could not control it. Then the car just died. I jumped it and then it would run until I turn the car off and will only run again if I jump it. My uncle looked at the car and said that is shouldnt be the battery because it was brand new. One major problem is that I have important papers in the trunk for school but the trunk will not open!!...Even when the car is jumped and everything else is working the trunk won't open and this is driving me crazy because I have important papers in there!!...I heard that there could be a problem with the security system on the car. Help Please!!

  1. DAH!!! Call the dealer!!!

  2. If my memory serves me correctly there were NO Mark VII,  If the car is a 94 then you have a mark VIII.  If you have the optional electronic key pad and you have power to the car-jumped or running-you should be able ot punch in 99 to open the trunk, if that doesn't work then your going to need some help from a reputable auto repair shop as it sounds like your having a direct short somewhere in the electrical system.  These are very good cars with a low maintenance record.

I assume you have tried the trunk key.  The trunk lock mechanism won't release when there are electronic problems.

A good repair shop can access your on-board computer through the OB2 port and get the codes that will tell you what's going on.
