  1. My 69 year old uncle was born with one kidney and he is in great shape!. I used to work on a renal transplant unit where people donated a kidney to sick family members...and they obviously were able to continue to live with one kidney........Your little boy should be fine....congratulations on your new baby boy!

  2. Many people who donate kidneys do very well, as do the people whom they donate to.

That is why kidney donating is safe.

Talk to your son's doctor about how normal of a life he can have. You might be pleasantly surprised by the answer!

    God Bless!

  3. I was born with one kidney. For me, it hasn't had any impact on my life whatsoever. The one kidney works just fine--as well as anyone else's two. In fact, I didn't know it for the first 13 or so years of my life. The doctor told me that many people go through life with only one kidney and never even know.

That's for me. You should ask your son's doctor about him since not all situations are always the same. Congratulations on your new baby!

  4. My nephew was born with one kidney...it hasn't had any major impacts on his life...he urinates normally and is in perfect health.
