Question:

Have a coleman powermate vantage 5000 generator. Not putting out any power. how do i check to find out why. ?

a wiring diagram would be helpful. went to both briggs and coleman websites but couldn't find diagram for this generator.

  1. look for a fuse.. probably like the colored plastic one you find in a car.. if it has a gfi plug like in your bathroom, check to see if you need to reset it.

    if there is a blown fuse of triped gfi it will break the circut and not let power out so no one gets electricuted


  2. The receptacles have resettable breakers. I would try this first.

  3. Is there an overload fuse or circuit breaker on the unit? Maybe it tripped.

  4. I guess you know by now there is no support or parts for this generator. If generator is putting out voltage, but it is low, then reset governor speed to 3600. If none, then broken wire, or the voltage regulator card on the end of the generator. Sometimes it is only the capacitor if you have the skills to change it. While the card is off, clean the slip ring contacts.
