My oil tank and propane tank are on these pads and they bake in the sun. Brand new oil tank is starting to rust. I would like to enclose this area, but I am a beginner do-it-yourselfer.

Basically, I am trying to build a shed around this. I can take down the cinder block wall if I need to. I need to build the sides and the roof and keep the pad. I will a full set of doors on the front and a top only door on the back so the oil/propane can be delivered. Right now I have a top only opening in the fence that surrounds 3 sides of the pad.

Any ideas of where I can some type of plan to get me started? Is this a project I can do? I don't even know how to connect the bottom to the concrete.

Thank you.

  1. Keep the one wall and build off of that.. Would be a waste of time and money to tear down a good wall to put up another one... To answer your question  about connecting to the concrete pad is to get pressure treated lumber and use a masonry bit to drill holes into the slab through your lumber and use concrete expansion bolts  (http://www.ameribestfasteners.com/_borde... to attach the lumber/wall frame to the slab and build up.. You can do this if you have simple construction knowledge... good Luck

  2. This one of those times a picture would be worth a thousand words.

It may be something you would build a structure like a poll barn around the items.I would say check with the suppliers oil/propane as to safety concerns. Also a call to the city/county where you live as well.My concern would be proper ventilation to the products.

This may well be something if allowed you may wish to have a handy man service build for you.You can even hide the structure a bit with bushes/plants.Again safety about what your attempting to do.

    Good Luck
