  1. First, make sure all electrical connections, including the battery terminals are shiny clean.  Use no grease or other products on electrical connections.  Make sure your battery is good, use a load tester.  If your battery is more than 4 years old, it  may show 12+- volts, but will not hold enough charge to start the motor.  If all is good, and your starter still doesn't turn, or turns too slowly to engage the pinion, it's time for a starter rebuild or replace.

  2. It could be the carburator. Check the carb on the outboared and clean it. that or it could be the valaves. It could be numerous things. call a local dealership and they could possibly help you.

  3. sounds like either your battery is low or your starter soleniod is old and weak and won't 'pop' the starter gear onto the flywheel

since you have a small displacement engine, one easy thing to do is use the rope start.

on the inside of the cowl is a plastic bag that should have a rope starter that you wind around the flywheel and pull to start the engine if the starter is nonfunctional - it's actually real easy - I have used it on my 150XR2. you need to take off the flywheel cover but it should only be held in place by three wingnuts.
