  1. It's like if you have alergies... you eleminate one thing and then another until you find what is causing it.

There are also products that you can spray on your cat to reduce the dander. go to foster and smith's site.

    good luck >^..^<

  2. A diet can be a huge part of it. What brand of food do you feed him? Alot of animals have allergies to grains in food, like corn, gluten, and by products and such. If you change your cat to a gluten free, corn free.. mainly free of all the c**p that is put as a main ingredient in pet food. Change the cats diet gradually to a more wholesome diet that's high protien, one that has muscle meats like deboned turkey or chicken, or chicken meal as the first ingredients. If you have him on high quality wet food that would be the most ideal. I use wellness core dry food. http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/cat_welln... Click there to get info on it. There are lots of others to. Of course, there could be other reasons for your cats dander, but more often than not it's cause of poor quality diet. Good luck!

  3. A wet diet will help to reduce dandruff.  I can attest to that.

A wet diet can be raw meat (properly balanced of course) or canned food.

In addition, the better the food the better the results.  You want to find a grainless canned food.  One that doesn't contain common allergens such as corn, wheat or soy.

Another thing that can help is adding a fish oil to the diet.

    Fish oil:

Only Natural Pet Icelandic Salmon Oil (pump) (http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/O...

Good for hairballs, good for skin and coat.

Selection: You typically won't use human fish oils - at least not the ones in liquid form - because they have added citrus flavors to many of them. You don't want to use cod liver oil - at least not on a very regular basis - because it has too much vitamin a. Plain old fish oil or salmon oil is best. I prefer it in liquid form as opposed to capsules for ease of dispensing. You want it to say that they've done everything possible to remove mercury. I prefer one with the fewest additives, especially not rosemary. Or propyllgallate.

For ease of use, I prefer to buy it in liquid form in a squeeze bottle or pump.

Dosage: I give a squirt every day. It's not measured but probably comes to somewhere around 1/4 tsp.

  4. If you are referring to a dandruff like flaking of the skin, then you need to look at the food you are feeding your cat. Cats are obligate carnivores -- they need animal protein, not plant protein which can lead to overweight and diabetes.

If you are feeding dry kibble exclusively, slowly begin adding a good wet cat food with at least 8% protein.  The first ingredient should be water or poultry of some kind.  Corn meal, wheat gluten, and rice should be way down the list or absent completely.  Don't be worried that water is one of the first ingredients.  Cats derive most of their dietary moisture from their food. Eventually switch to the canned food with just a tiny bit of kibble now and then. (We play chase the kibble once a day with our two cats using Hill's k/d which can only be bought at vet clinics. We never use more than a 1/3 cup.)
