it, is there a detterent, or a solution, i understand the sheets themselves only sit in the top and bottom rails, also renting so probably limited to what can be done, street is well lit and relise extra lighting wont put them off, thanks for any help

Depends on how much you want to spend. Night vison, motion sensor camera is my answer. Also,  if your friendly with a neighbor who's side the damage is coming from, ask them if you can place the camera in a window. Those sneaky Nanny cam's may also do the trick-since you say it's well lit, just hide it so it's unseen. Hide it really early in the AM when the bad guys are sleeping in! Have you told the police and neighbors? They may be able to keep an eye out. They may also be able to tell you some other ideas, or let you know what can happen, legally, if you do get a clear picture/video of the perp. Maybe just telling people your hiding a camera to catch them will stop this, if it's just kids.

Get a couple of signs that say you are under surveillance and put them on the side of the fence where they are pushing down the fence.   Works like a charm.
