I'm going into grade 9 in a week and i know that i need to try hard in high school. from 1-8 i coasted (i still got mostly low 80's) but i want to get accepted into a top notch law school i have the intelegance to do it but i need some advice on how to stay on that path.

also i "goof off" in class frequently i cannot help it its nothing major just some talking and joking around but i know i should of been paying attention i also did some more serious stuff like hack into my school computer to disable websence so i could go on CNN video, or being so disruptive in class and getting every one else giggly and off task i made a substitute teacher cry. (i felt so bad after that) wich brings me to my next point - no respect to authority, if a teacher tells me something and i know it is incorrect i will jump at the bit to correct them, ill sneak coffee into class, and just disagree and be cold to them and i now realise this needs to stop! please give me some tips on how to improve on my weak points mentioned above.

  1. Hey Dory,

It sounds to me like you are an extremely bright young man. It also appears that you act out as you do because you are bored and trying to amuse yourself. That being said, I would try and get into the honors classes--later they become Advanced Placement. You need to be challenged. Have your mom or dad go into the school and request the schedule change from your counselor. It might also help to talk to your teachers and let them know about your behavior and that you are working on it. Let them know that you do not mean to be a smart *** and that you need to be challenged or kept busy.

On a slightly different tip, you will also want to begin to learn to control your behavior. Especially if you plan on being a lawyer. It isn't easy, but if you are aware of the things that set you off--and your reactions--you will be able to slowly change them to something more positive.

These are just some suggestions. Overall, congrats on taking your future into your hands! I have no doubt that you will make it to law school if you keep this goal in mind. =) Good luck!

  2. Hey I know a few people like you....ah the freshman days. I am a Junior! Finally an upper classman!

Look the only way to change this is to straighten up, your high school years are VERY  important, you mentioned that you want to get into law school...then you need to stop acting like an 8th grader and grow up. Freshman year is the year that everyone gets to know you, you may have a teacher this year and have him or her again a year or two later...also people change in high school so you can make new friends. So this is the time to learn to respect your teacher, other students and YOURSELF!

I mean kids will be kids, everyone goes on sites on school computers that they shouldnt...everyone talks in class to some extent. But being disrespectful to a teacher and the other students for interrupting their learning is unexceptable!

So good luck, try hard to listen in class. It is simple to be a fun person to be around and still get good grades and have teachers respect you back.

  3. if you REALLY do your work, then teachers wont really see you as the TROUBLE MAKER. =/

all those good grades will SORTA cover up your bad qualities.. ;)

but you also need to lower it down!. alottt! :p

    start with, NOT SNEAKING COFFEE.

then think about how the teachers feel when you make them CRY.

    STOP breakin the rules.

  4. oh man you sound like your the cool kid in the class my advice is if you cant stop doing those wrong things then get very high grades so the teachers wont make a big deal about you since your grades
