  1. I don't think all of them will ever be found.

  2. No, some have been found in other places too.

This site presents a large map of hominid fossil sites. It also offers a tour of the human fossil record.

    A data base under construction.

  3. The majority of hominid fossils have been found in Africa. This stands to reason since it appears that hominids originated in Africa and radiated out from there. The earliest hominids that appear outside of Africa are Homo Erectus. They spread as far as China and Southeast Asia.

  4. Absolutely not!

Homnidae include every discovered fossil related to mankind from Australopithecus through yourself.

Therefore, hominid fossils are to be found in every graveyard on the planet as of a few minutes ago. Tomorrow there will be more, those buried since I write this.

Actually, we, modern man, is all that's left but the line is long and responsible for us moderns. So, plaudits for old

    (KNM ER 1470).

I'll bet that baby would be turning in his grave if he knew the future would include people like Einstein, on the one end and Jerry Falwell, on the other. I imagine he would accept Einstein and reject old Jerry. I would.

  5. I appreciate the clarification. Rereading you question, I looked into tables of hominids in wikipedia, "List of human evolution fossils".  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_hom...

1 More than 4 million years old

    2 3 million - 4 million years old

    3 2 million - 3 million years old

    4 1 million - 2 million years old

    5 100,000 - 1 million years old

    6 50,000 - 100,000 years old

7 Less than 50,000 years old

There are a total of 7 tables here; while the first three concerns human evolution, the fossils represented are not considered hominids. Thre remaining 4 tables are classified as hominids. Interestingly, between 2 million yrs and 1 million yrs (4-th table) ALL hominids are from Africa according to the table. Among sites dated between 1 million - 100,000 yrs (5-th table)11 out of 26 hominid fossil sites listed are from Africa while others are from outside of Africa. Between 100,000 - 50,000 yrs, (6-th table) only 1 out of 16 hominid fossil sites are listed. The last table (7), dated to less than 50,000 yrs, 5 out of 25 nomonid fossil sites are from Africa.

From this brief survey, it can be said that Africa played an effective monopoly in the early evolution of Homonids for around 1 million years after which other continents also played some role, whether it is an equal role as proposed by multiregional evolutionists or only marginal roles as supporting the end product of human evolution once it was completed in Africa as Out-of-Africa model of evolutionists suggest.

To respond to your question in a meaningful way, it appears that "all hominid fossils have been found in Africa" if we limit the scope scale to the early half (2 mil.yr - 1mil.yr) of hominid evolution.

(although it did not respond to  you question with success, I preserve my old message for the sake of record-keeping.)

---edit: Misunderstood question as emphasising "all."---

    It would be reasonable that:

"We do not know exactly what varienty and amount of hominid fossils would be ENOUGH to solve the task of reconstructing the evolutionary path of human evolution.

Eventually we should be able to find ENOUGH fossil evidence to backtrack this; perhaps evolutionary scientist will experience both innovations and revolutionary changes in the familiy tree of hominiuds with new evidence. The unknown is what makes scientific studies exciting; you never know what you're gonna get next time. ^^__

  6. Africa, due largely to geology, has places mostly near the Great Rift, where fossils of relatively recent age are exposed.  This makes Africa the place to look for hominids.  Hominids have been found in Asia for nearly 2 million years.  These include Homo georgicus, erectus, neanderthalensis, heidelbergensis, floresiensis (the hobbit), and some others.  I suspect that hominids have co-evolved in Asia and Africa. There is a notion that our ancestors have migrated as a steady stream out of Africa as if it is a one way road.  There is nothing to stop migration both ways as the species evolve.
