  1. yup its the best!!

  2. I love it.  My friends from vietnam pronounce it "fur", and apparently it does vary in pronunciation from place to place.

The dish is traditionally beef-based.  Other variations using fish and chicken are possible, but usually will be found outside Viet Nam to cater to foreign tastes.

  3. Phở  (actually pronounced more like "Fah") is just a big steamin' bowl 'o' stock with noodles and meat and/or veggies floating in it.  In Vietnam, they eat it for any meal.

    yum!

  4. yes and it is sooooooooooooo good.

I got rice noodles with grilled shrimp and tons of fresh herbs like basil and parsley with peanuts in it.

I is soooooo refreshing from typical asian food.

I can eat a whole big bowl and not get too full........yummmmmmm

  5. A steaming bowl of quality Pho is a beautiful thing.  It's actually the influence of the French -- Indochine -- with the Vietnamese basing it on French consumme, and then perfecting it to a thousand percent.

It's low-fat, healthful, and if you don't eat all those noodles, fairly diet-friendly.  It cures a cold on contact (according to me, anyway), and is the best kind of comfort food.  Reasonably priced, it's certain to fill you up on a short amount of money. You'll never go away hungry.

Pho is typically a beef-based dish but I believe the varieties in the US called "Chicken Noodle Soup" were likely created for  American palattes.  The beef is most authentic.  Personally, I can't stand the variety with meatballs -- they are hard as little hockey pucks.  You could try the chicken to develop a taste for the dish, and then graduate to a beef pho with different types of beef, from sliced tendon to round steak to others.

    You'll love it.

  6. Most wonderful soup.

Broth is excellent, noodles are light, herbage provides flavoring. Almost everything is healthy and clean.

Makes for a very healthy dish.

  7. Yep, love it.
