  1. Well, first of all, if there aren't any big organizational pieces in the room, you should definitely get some, maybe get some of the basket/bins in bright, primary colors.  Also, anything to do with animals, numbers, letters...etc. are also good, because that is more about education, so it is not something that will "go out of style" like a kids tv show.

  2. Do your painted wall characters include the alphabet and numbers 1-10?  How about shapes?  Animals?  Nature scenes that are geologically and botanically specific to your area? Planetary scenes? Maybe a picture of the earth?  How about a map of your state with a few artistic legends throughout of specific natural resources.

My daughter attends one of the best daycare centers in my state.  They hang a collage of pictures of each child's family eye level to the children.  Also, children love to play house.  Get a play kitchen with dishes and food.  For some good tips on toddler development, check out my question.  Have fun decorating!

  3. Bring some stuff that is appropriate that you like for children of these ages and put it on the walls. Also you can put up a huge piece of paper and let the children that are old enough to finger paint on it,so that way it defines you and the children you are taking care of.Make it your own.
