Question:

Have any experienced cruisers been on the Liberty of the Seas?

My husband and I are planning a cruise for early this fall on the Liberty of the Seas from Royal Caribbean. We're going on the East Caribbean cruise. We've done a 3-night cruise before, but this is a 7-night cruise, and on a much bigger ship. Anything we should know about this cruise versus other cruises? Anything special we should pack? I know they have surfing, rock climbin, and ice skating on board, but are there other things we should be prepared to take advantage of that would mean advanced preparation?

  1. Well, I can't vouch for "Liberty of the Seas" but I can for "Freedom of the Seas".  The two ships are supposed to be the same except "Freedom" is a little bigger.  My wife and I just came off the same cruise your going on and I must admit, Royal Caribbean knows how to bring it on.  Food, food, food, fun, fun, fun, dance, dance, party, party, yada, yada.

The only thing special your going to need is extra $$$.  If you like to have a few drinks now and then, you'll pay....but it is still great and worth every penny.

We would do it again in a minute!!!!!

  2. You mentioned you have a Royal Caribbean Promenade cabin. They are amazing and the view is also amazing.  But just remember to close the curtains when you undress or others will be getting an amazing view also!

  3. I just got back from a 7-night Western Caribbean cruise on the Liberty and it was a blast!!!!

For rock climbing, you will need shorts, socks and tennis shoes. For the ice skating, you need long pants and "full socks."

As for the dress, formal nights are just that....formal. Dresses or gowns for women and suits or a tux for guys.

Shorts and swimsuits are perfect for the daytime, but you might want to pack some longer pants and maybe a light sweater or jacket for the evenings.

I wore linen pants and polo shirts most evenings and was quite comfortable.

I am usually more comfortable in shorts, but the dress in the evening seemed a little more refined.

It all depends on what you want to do as to what you need to wear.

The website will explain the dress code for the restaurants and activities on the ship.

I hope you have a great time on the Liberty. We did and I would love to sail on her again!!!

Wait until you see the Royal Promenade....you won't believe you are on a ship!!!!!
