A multi-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate Highway 580 in Oakland has been cleared from the roadway, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.

Preliminary reports indicate that a van crashed into the highway's center divide just east of 106th Avenue at about 5:40 a.m., CHP Officer A. Paulson said. The initial collision then created a pileup that involved several other vehicles.

There is no word on the extent of the injuries sustained in the collision, Paulson said.

A Sig-alert issued at 6:04 a.m. was canceled at 7:28 a.m.
