Question:

Have any new parents here considered not vaccinating your baby?

We are trying to make our decision. Part of our feelings say that we would be nuts not to get our baby vaccinated. However, there is some damning research which suggests all kinds of problems arise from the ingredients of the immunizations: autism, SIDS, mental and physical defects, high poisonous levels of mercury, etc.

I know this is gonna sound strange, but sometimes I feel like I would rather take my chances with possible diseases than to be responsible for giving my child autism for life through these vaccines. I was shocked at how many vaccines/immunizations that children are given these days- even one for CHICKEN POX! which in my opinion is ridiculous because it is not deadly, just a nuisance.

We have not made up our minds. Has anyone else here had this dilemma?

  1. well im not a parent, but i would get my kids vaccinated. i lived through vaccinations just fine. also, where have you been? they have been giving out chicken pox vac. for awhile. and they can be more than "just a nuisance". a friend of mine had chicken pox so bad, that they were inside her mouth and "down there". thats pretty d**n painful...

  2. No.

I have had all my vaccinations and I have not had any problems with any of them. It did, however, keep me from getting the horrible diseases that you get if you AREN'T vaccinated.

I will be doing the same for my kids.

I would rather have an autistic child than a dead child. Which I highly doubt autism comes from vaccinations. People will come up with just about anything.

  3. Actually vaccinations are very dangerous for your children! Most people do not know that there are 1000's of dangerous chemicals in them like embalming fluid, mercury, acid tone and pesticides. The US Government cannot make anyone give their children vaccinations just because its a money maker for the governement, that's aginst your rights as parents. When Dr's give vaccinations they are injecting a LIVE virus into you childs body and if your child's system isn't stong enough to fight that virus they can get it or die from it. I have people in my family that actually got polio from the polio vaccination they claim that they changed the vaccine now and you can't get it. My children are allergic to most of the vaccines and that makes Dr's mad because now they can't make that much money off my kids. My oldest son got 6 vaccines before I said enough is enough. It made him so sick with fever, his leg and arm ballooned in size, he got a rash, vomited, and was shaking. It really scared me to this day my son never compleated his vaccines when he started school I told them it was against my religion to get them and he wasn't going to get them. The schools cannot deny your child an education becasue of that on the blue card just sign the back where it say against your rights or religion. If there is an out break then keep your child home from school. Honestly Dr's don't even really know if the vaccines really work it's just an educatied guess. So don't be bullies and do research on the subject. You can go to the local collge and read Dr's journales and books about this subject then deside for your self. When I was in college, I did a extensive research paper that got me an A, but a lot of problems; people don't like to believe that the governement is behind something like this just for money....they are.

  4. my parents recently found out about that stuff too

i'm fourteen and my sister is 16 and my brother is 21 we all got vaccinated, because they didn't knw

now with my 3 year old brother, they have never gotten his vaccinations, and ignored the pressures his pediatrician gave them...and guess what? He hasn't gotten any diseases they prevent yet, though a balanced diet.

vaccinating children does cause autism, and the government are paying people to say that they dont...but do what you want. Whos going to listen to a fourteen year old anyway

  5. Vaccines do not cause autism.  The people studying autism came out on GoodMorning America and flat out said vaccinating your child will not cause autism.  There is no link what so ever.  What caused that myth was when a child became autistic shortly after recieving vaccines, and the parents wanted something/someone to blame and thats what started the whole autism scare.

  6. What evidence?  In order for something to be proven scientically, the experiment has to be able to be replicated.  They have never been able to replicate the study that the MMR causes autism.  There is a lot of info available on this subject...

The literature I received from my son's doctor stated they no longer used mercury in their vaccines.

I totally understand your concern, no parent wants to put their child in harm's way.  However, by risking your child get a "normal" disease instead of autism (which is improbable) you risk them going blind, getting extremely ill, and dying from something that can be prevented. The choice was easy for me to make.  We had our son vaccinated.

When you read articles about pro/anti-vaccinations, read who published them.  Find out who their sources are.  Read deeper into what they are saying to get to the bare facts.  That might help you make your decision a little easier, either way.

PS  My boss got menegitis about 8 years ago.  SHe almost died.  Thankfully, she pulled through, but she had severe memory loss.

  7. I think it is VERY reasonable that you are having this dilemma and I wished more people would think for themselves like you and not be brainwashed by the healthcare system in the U.S. The people who have answered your question so far probably make drone-like decisions throughout their whole lives.

There is a ton of evidence supporting what you claim about how vaccines are dangerous, but guess what- if people don't get vaccinated, then huge pharmaceutical companies don't get paid, and that, my friend is the bottom line as in all things- money, money, money.

It is actually the people who blindly get vaccinated that are blinded, not you.

Do your own research though, then don't be afraid to do what you think is right- whether you get your child vaccinated or not.

Oh yeah, and by the way, you are also ABSOLUTELY CORRECT when you say that you can be exempt from taking vaccinations and still go to public schools in 47 of the 50 states and in most, your reason can simply be that you don't believe in being vaccination. Other states you must claim a religious exemption.

Good luck, it is a tough decision!

  8. My daughter is 5months old and has not been vaccinated. We did a lot of research and decided that the risks of what they put into the vaccines and the ways they are made were just too much to put into a helpless little baby. I am scared about her getting sick. I won't lie about that but if she gets a natural disease I think I would feel better than if she gets one injected into her. One of the most common side effect of many of the vaccines are that they give the child the disease they are suppose to be protecting the child from. Autism may or may not be caused by vaccines but that is not the only issue. Do a lot of research and decide for yourselves what you feel is best for your child. As for the school issue, I'm not sure I want my child to go to public school anyway. Homeschooling is an option we are seriously looking into. At least if she is home schooled I will know that she is getting a proper education and not being hurt or molested by the teachers and other students. I won't have to worry that some kid is going to bring a gun to school or any of the other crazy things you hear about happening in schools.

I know I will be getting thumbs down for this answer. Just remember.. it is MY opinion and MY child.

  9. I believe in vaccinating children.

Many diseases that used to cripple, kill or render children infertile still exist in the world.  (mumps, polio, diptheria, etc).  The chances that your child, assuming you live in a First World, middle-upper class area, will be exposed is pretty slim.

So long as you don't leave the area.  Or nobody around your child travels to a Third World country.  Can you guarantee that your child will -never- be around someone who was exposed to one of these diseases from outside the country?

Other diseases, like hepatitis, is pretty common in the US.  This is a blood-bourne disease.  But children can also contract it in-utero from their mother.  Hepatitis among US children is NOT RARE.  Blood contact could happen on the playground, if another child falls and skins a knee.  Not many children understand universal precations and are carrying around examination gloves.

Since you mentioned chicken pox, it's worthwhile to add that while deaths from chicken pox in children is rare, death from chicken pox in adults is less so.  And death from shingles (which happens as a result of the latent virus from childhood chicken pox coming active again) among older adults is not uncommon at all.   Chicken pox in a child may be a nusience, but shingles in an adult can be devestating.

It's my opinion that the chances of your child having a reaction to a vaccination are much, much less, than your child contracting a devestating disease.

  10. You may need to look into the side effects of the diseases the children are being vaccinated against. The actual disease might be a nuisance, but the side effects can be deadly, encephalitis, brain damage, heart problems, breathing difficulties for life and  the list goes on. I have two children, both are vaccinated, neither of them have had any problems, no autism (which kids are born with and diagnosed around 2 years of age, hence then link with vaccines) and are healthier than cousins of theirs who have not been vaccinated.

You really need to make sure that what you decide is really the best for your children. You may think the diseases are annoying and not life threatening, but what happens if your kids are carriers for whooping cough and give it to a 2 week old infant, then the infant dies (which has happened, frequently because of the choice to vaccinate). Or why are the diseases that were non existent are now coming back because of the non vaccinaters............I guess the choice is really up to you, but kids have limited immunity, which is why vaccines have been created. More kids have died from the diseases than the vaccine.

  11. Without vaccines your child will not be able to go to school.  Also, most vaccines these days do NOT contain mercury and if they do it is such a small amount it is not to be worried about.  Vaccines do not cause SIDS, or autism.  The deal with autism is that it doesn't really surface in a child until they are able to communicate well, usually around 2 years old.  By then vaccines are done except for boosters when needed, and people blame the shots for their kids' autism.

How ridiculous would it be if your child got sick from a disease that could have been 100% prevented had he/she had the necessary vaccinations!!

  12. I know this for sure, if you dont vaccinate your baby when they become school aged they cant be enrolled without proof of shots. So unless you are going to homeschool your baby then you have to get them.

  13. My husband and I also had the same dilemma.

What it came down to for us was that the pros outweigh the cons.  Last year, the college 2 miles away, a girl died from Meningitis.  This was to close to home for us.  When we heard this we were glad that we made the choice to vaccinate.
