... that they may not be able to close it? Why has this argument centered on atheists vs Christians to such a level. Do Christians not realize that with these freedoms they may be easily ousted with us as well? Is freedom of government rule not a priveledge that we all should have in life?

I mean really, who is to say that once this door is opened that the Christians don't even get in? What if it is one of the larger and faster global religions that comes to power in the USA. Say something like Muslims. Are people really that blind no tto notice that the "War on Terror" is really a front to stop this from happening by the American government? That by limiting thier own religious freedoms this may come back to bite them in the 'you know what'?

  1. People of religion generally don't worry about others of religion, even when that religion is called something else with differing beliefs. That they can cope with as it centres them more on their own religion. But, those without religion are the people they fear as they cannot control them with their own beliefs or fears within their beliefs. They can't do or say things to an atheist that will matter to the atheist, they can't blame their god. Nor can they use their god to intimidate us into their way of thinking.

  2. Did you not know that the laws in the USA have protected religious freedom since the Bill of Rights was signed into law?

Do you think that there aren't liberals or Democrats who believe in God?

Do you not understand that the "Religious Right" does not want state sponsored religion?  What they are fighting against is state sponsored removal of religion.

The US government has no stake in what percentage of our population is of any particular religion.  The government does have a stake in making sure that we are not forced to be part of any particular religion.  They do have a stake in protecting US citizens from murderers.

  3. I don't know where you live but in the United States of America we have always had religious freedom.  In fact our country was founded on it.  Despite this,  Christians, as the majority group, have always been pretty much in control in America so I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.

  4. This rambling diatribe is ill-informed and reactionary.

  5. Very good point........ I know that God is in control and I am prepared to suffer for what I think is right.  We have been a blessed nation because of ouf faith in Jesus.  If we take that away, we seperate ourselves from God.   We do want to be a blessed powerful nation dont we?

  6. Read the Book of Revelation.  It tells Christians that they will be persecuted in the end times.  Christians are just trying to make sure that we are allowed to worship God because eventually, we will be killed for doing so.

  7. I hope the FSM can monopolize in the wake of Christianity.  I think Christians could appreciate His "8 really wish you didn'ts" in my courtroom.

  8. In the US the religious freedom is thought of by most as the Christian freedom. They seem to forget that there are 1000s of religions out there. Teach a Christian curriculum in a public school and you will also have to make room for Wiccan, Pagan, Satanism, Hindu, Taoism and on and on. I don't think they get this.

  9. fundamentalist c**p

    bring it on !

  10. Right wing reacts without thinking of the consequences like a "Preemptive Strike." That is what makes them right wing.

People who take a more responsible position end up in the other party.

But you have a great point here. They don't realize the kind of doors they are opening for others.

  11. And which brand of Christianity gets to decide policy?  Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Pentecostals, Lutherans....?  And if it's the Baptists, which one of their 200+ sub-denominations will we follow? No, of course they haven't considered it.

  12. I'm not sure if this answers your question, but the religious right only says they are for religious freedom when it's convenient for them. It's not what they want. They want a Christian theocracy.
