  1. Yes I have heard of it. I think that in todays society the eight year old can serve him/herself some milk.  If a mother is doing it to sooth her child then the needs to urgently take some parenting classes.

  2. That was months ago.  Nobody thinks it's right.

  3. TOTALLY TOTALLY WRONG!!!!! Y?!!! y wud they do tht, there answer is b/c every1 says its the best milk eh yea if ur a baby! wot a t$@t the milk isnt enough and doesnt contain enough nutrients 4 a 8yr old. Sorry 2 rant but it jus agitates me!!!! Its just disgusting.

  4. yeah..what the h***s that all about?

when i was 8, i was embarrassed of my mom already.

  5. Once they have teeth I would think that would hurt.  Just because some other countries do that, does not mean we have to.

  6. Thumbs down me all you want, but I think it's completely ridiculous! An eight year old!? Give the boy some cow's milk, for crying out loud! Seriously, does she pump some in a glass so that he can dunk his oreos in breastmilk? The poor kid, how embarrassing for him.

  7. That was on the Tyra Show... I feel sorry for that kid.  Could you imagine having a sleep over and tellling your friends..."I'll be right back, I'm going to go nurse."

  8. I am thoroughly surprised that the kid would want to continue.

Not so much that he doesn't like it, its a habit and so he would want to continue.  Its a connection to his mother and should work as it would for even a baby.  But I would think that sooner or later his friends and peers would make so much fun of him that he would stop of his own accord.

I would think being ostracized from even the child level of society, or rather especially because its the child level of society where being ostracized is even worse than when one is an adult, would convince him to stop.

As far as my opinion, I don't really have one.  As I said, it would be a physical connection to one's parent that should still increase a feeling of belonging and love for the kid; but its just unusual.  The kid has to grow up; that is the major point of parenthood--to RAISE a child.  How can he be raised if he continues childhood activities well past their normal stage?

I don't really know which is correct.

  9. eew heard abt it in tyra...my mum freaked out...i found it disgusting....also on clean house this mother breast feeded her 5 yr old son...i guess there are some people out there who find it hard to let go of their children or just find it normal to do so! may be they dnt knw what's the right thing to do.

  10. i haven't heard of it, but my mom breastfed my little brother till he was six.

  11. some 3rd world contries the moms nurse the children past 8 years old

  12. Was this on Tyra Banks?

I saw the show last week.  Someone else had asked yesterday about breastfeeding older children and I said I wasn't comfortable with the idea of doing it in public - got many thumbs down for it.  That's just my opinion.

  13. Back in the days of cavemen I'm sure it was quite common and useful.

The fact that most people don't do that anymore is therefore simply the product of it no longer being necessary (since we have plenty of foodsources) and social taboo.

I've never been one to give much importance to social taboo.

On the other hand, most adults can't remember before they were 4 or 5 years old, and maybe it's a good thing that most of us stop before that age.  But I think I just contradicted myself on the whole "taboo" thing.

  14. I think its ridiculous and disgusting...i cant even get my eight yr old give me a kiss...
