For those who are advocates for expectant mothers right. and are fighting coercion tactics, have you ever been tempted to contact an agency as "an expectant mother" to see how you would be treated and so you can document their techniques, first hand?

Maybe Dr.Phil should doa how on this one.

  1. Nope, never really been tempted to do that.  See, I've got this thing about lying.  I don't really like to do it.

Two wrongs really don't make a right.

  2. Funny, you should ask, I have actually thought about doing this as a potential adoptive parent to see how honest they were about adoption to me, if I look on line at the agencies I find the websites to be very skewed, promising wonders that no person could deliver, but I never have gotten around to it.

  3. Absolutely!  but you couldn't really fake pregnancy could you?  and I would not want to hurt any prospective adoptive parents in the process of attempting an expose

Great question.   I do think every agency should be 'tested' kinda like the 'mystery shoppers' they send into stores to put them to the test KWIM

Genuine Mothers who HAVE been coerced are usually gagged by the courts and you don't hear enough about them in the media.  Most people are oblivious.

  4. I've thought about it I but couldn't do it.  It's not in my nature.  Also, I would never hurt prospective adoptive parents in that way.  I did advise a young pregnant woman who worked with an agency briefly.  The agency was relentless and tried to drive a wedge between her and her parents because her parents did not support adoption.  My experience was not first hand, second hand told me all I needed to know.

  5. I think some have.  I am afraid that I would be haunted forever by the agency with never ending calls and emails.  I really don't want to be nauseated by an adoption agency anyway.

  6. Been there, done that. It helps to know how the women you work with are being treated by others.  Some great, some not so great.  But it was very helpful to us as professionals.

  7. i have, and I did. I called as an expecting mother, asking about it, i was sent resource after resource to surrender, they called 3-4 times a day every day for weeks just to "see" how I was doing. They wouldn't leave me alone until I told them I miscarried.
