I signed up for it and I love it. I've lost 6 lbs just in time for the bikini season. I can't believe I didn't do this before!

Any inspirational stories you'd like to share?

  1. I have and I lost 25 lbs, my mom lost 25 lbs also and we have both kept it off for 2 years.  I have a friend who has been doing it for about a year I think and she has lost 70 lbs!  She is going for a full 100 lbs!  She is doing super and she says it is different on Weight watchers because of the actual support that you get face to face, someone to talk to and the weekly weigh ins.  They will actually call you and say hey why aren't you here if you miss a couple of weeks and get you back on track!  It is very supportive as opposed to trying to do it on your own, even if you have family backing.  Also the points are easy to follow and keep track of.  The  money you pay for the materials is actually worth it!  I agree totally.  I would have stuck with it longer but I guess I am not as motivated as she is or not at that stage in my weight loss quest.  Maybe I will start it up again. I hadn't thought about it lately!  (weight watchers that is--weight loss all the time)

  2. I'm just answering this one cuz I'm hoping some of the stories will tell how to gain weight.

For some of us it can be just as hard to gain as it is for some to lose.

    *sigh*

I've tried the protein shake(double doses of powder and twice what is recomended) and still didnt gain an ounce.

It's hopeless for me. I wont say what my weight is but lets say I make runway models look fat.

  3. I read an article in the newspaper last week that said after the age of twenty the number of fat cells in our bodies is fixed. So when a person diets he does not lose fat cells, just that the fat cells shrink. When the diet ends the fat cells swell again. Like a yoyo diet.

To be slim, you have to be slim before the age of 20. After that dieting is a waste of time.

    It sounds plausible.

  4. Great -  clapping hands.   If you need some good recipes I have them.   Wishing you continued resolve to get healthy!

I'll admit I have a great metabolism and have never needed it- but we did start a campus Weight Watchers group.  I had health care planning students do research, check costs, do a needs assessment, etc.    They found the best LONG TERM success with WW.

[Nutrisystem had good results to lose weight (you have to eat their food)  but they really had no long term support.]

Michelle:  My doctor had me gain some weight over the last year.   It was very hard.  [[[When he told me I asked for suggestions.   He said that the guy he saw just before me gained 25 pounds - and his wife said it was because he ate ice cream and drank beer- so I had all of his permission to eat all the ice cream I wanted and to drink beer.]]   What I ended up doing was to drink at least one Ensure every day in addition to my regular diet.

  5. Yes Lioness, but years ago after I had my first baby.

It was ok until I lost enough weight to go down to 18 points each day and then I was starving all the time and getting really grumpy.

I don't know how you do it and not get hungry, but good luck :)

Ummm, have seen your photos and Lioness, you do look great yanno, not like you need to lose weight at all :S

  6. NO... I've managed to stay in shape using common sense.

Think of calories as MONEY. If you take in more money than you use.. you "accumulate" it. Fat is the same way. If you take in more calories than you burn... you get FAT.

If you take in less money than you spend...you end up in debt. Same with fat and calories. If you take in less than you use... you get skinny.

If you know your body, you can make a good guess as to how much ice cream and grease-burgers you can take in each day. Also, keep in mind that after age 25, your metabolism slows down by 1% each year and you lose muscle mass. thus, you need LESS calories as you age (if you are over 25).

Ok.. maybe its not common sense. Most people don't know all this c**p. Ha
