not necesarily means is bad, but depends on the type of vacation you are kind of expecting to have.

    Enjoy your trip!!

  2. DEFFINITLY GO ON THE BAVARO RUNNERS SAFARI IF YOU WANT TO LEARN ABOUT THE ISLAND. CATALONIA BAVARO RESORT IS GREAT! i JUST GOT BACK AND LOVED IT!

  3. Are you thinking of vacationing in Punta Cana?  You cannot beat the price right now, since it’s an “up and coming” destination.  They are offering great deals to bring people in and I highly suggest you take advantage them.

The good far outweighs the bad, in my opinion.  I’ve already mentioned the price, but there are so many other reasons to visit.  My friends and I stayed at the all-inclusive Bavaro Princess resort, and it was wonderful.  We opted for the $100 per person Presidential upgrade, and it was more than worth it.

The beach is stunning, and you are free to roam as much as you’d like up and down the shoreline.  The resort at which we stayed had several “sister” resorts in Punta Cana, which all offer reciprocal privileges.  We were only there for 4 days, so we did not visit the other resorts, other than to walk up to them from the beach.

When we were there in January the weather was spectacular.  We noticed that it rained every morning for about 10 minutes, and then cleared out with the rest of the day remaining sunny and warm.  The rain seemed to cool everything down, and then you have the rest of the day to do as you please.

The people that we met, both inside and outside of the resort, were lovely.  We did not have a single bad experience with anyone being rude or unfriendly.  There was a marketplace right outside of our resort that was very tourist-friendly, and that was one of our favorite things to do—head to the marketplace to find good deals, sit and chat with the locals, and do shots of mama juana as part of the deal-making process.  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€ÂœI’ll take it for $10 and some mama juana.”  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€ÂœDone!”  Such fun!  My friends and I still make comments about something being, “Cheapy, cheapy!” which is how every vendor attempted to get you to view their wares.

Of course, you can’t beat fresh tropical fruit for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  I’m a vegetarian and tried native fruits that I’d never even heard of, let alone had the chance to taste before.  And the rum?  Well, let me just say that it flows in Punta Cana.  I wish that I could spend every day on the beach with a Bahama Mama at my side—I became spoiled by that daily routine in Punta Cana.

There are plenty of outdoor activities to participate in.  Typical of all-inclusive resorts, there was a mix of activities that were included in the price and others that were available for an extra fee.

The bad is what most tourists see in third world countries they visit.  The trip from the airport to the resort was not pleasant.  There is no highway infrastructure in place and there is plenty of poverty to be seen.  We were safe at the marketplace, but would not have ventured any further than that simply for safety reasons.

I think you should visit.  The warm sand, cool water, friendly people, and El Presidente cerveza are calling for you.  Have fun and safe travels!

  4. The good : great hotels with pool and beach

The bad   : small beaches, nothing to do outside the resorts,

the town is 39 miles and the only excursions are mostly acuatic, so no discovery of the country.

Advise : look for Puerto Plata.

    Anyway enjoy it!
