  1. I have heard that those outfits pay about one third of what you would get at a coin shop, and Sandy J's response would tend to prove that.

    A one tenth ounce pure gold coin is about the size of a US dime. A decent size bracelet, even 14K (which is 57% gold) has more gold in it than that. Now consider that a coin dealer will buy that one tenth ounce gold coin from you for about $75 (spot gold is $812 as I write this). Based on this, I would guess that Sandy J would have got double or triple the money selling at a coin dealer.

    That is a Bad Thing.

    Added later: In the above, I was referring to another response which has since been deleted. She had sold a bracelet, chain, and a damaged ring and got $65 from www.cash4gold.com, which is similar to Goldkit. Based on her description, she would have gotten $120 or more selling to a coin shop.
