  1. Aside from what everyone will tell you about the good effects of it, I've considered a couple bad ones myself.

First, No one knows what the long term effects are. It's too new. No one knows if twenty years from now it could end up making you blind completely.

Second, I work with a man who had lasik and he is now blind in one eye. His eye is completely white. While this risk is not likely to happen to you, are you willing to live with it if it does? I would rather put in my contacts every morning then risk that. Good luck to you though!

  2. yes, it is great.side effects are lower nite vision and dryness for like lst 3 months.

  3. I have and I love it! It has been a little over 3 years and still see perfect without glasses or contacts. I was a -10 in one eye and a -10.50 in the other.  The most annoying side effect is the dry eye and decrease in night vision but I would still do it again in a heartbeat!

  4. Lasik surgery is the most popular and advance form of refractive surgery.  This is the fastest way for a much greater range of vision correction. Lasik attempts to endow a 20/20 vision if possible or near normal vision in patients with low or moderate ranges of myopia.  There is some negligible amount of risk involved in the process but it varies from patient to patient. The most common complications are dry eye syndrome, blurry or hazy vision, glares, haloes, starbursts and decreased night vision.

With the technological developments, it is possible to nullify the risks and the side affects. The future of the surgery is no doubt bright with all the advances made in medical science; it is possible to have this surgery with the barest risks. A skilled and experienced surgeon will be the right person, consult more than one surgeon before going for Lasik surgery…

  5. Amy's answer illustrates perfectly how personal a decision this has to be.

I'm somewhere near her refraction, and I'd avoid Lasik simply because of the *risk* of dry eye and decreased night vision.

Around 95% of people report themselves to be happy to very happy with the result *despite* any side effects.

The most common of these, reported in a variable percentage of people, are

Refraction not as near zero as hoped

    Dry eye, temporarily or permanently

Glare or haze especially at night.

Around or below 1% more severe problems can occur: loss of best vision due to cornea irregularities, epithelial cell infiltration, infections...

Check the websites below:  the FDA Lasik site, and a typical consent form.

The vast majority of the people I've seen with it have been very happy, but I've seen a few literally in tears over how little I can do to help their vision, as not even glasses or contacts could restore it properly.
