  1. if you need a driver to take you to these places goto thejakartapost.com and search the classifids

  2. Bus: use a reliable cross-cities air-conditioned bus. I know Kramat Jati has Jakarta-Bali route. I heard several other transport companies, but I forget the names. You could find the ticketing center in big bus terminal, specially in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta. It's one of the center of cross-cities buses. You would have to book the seat in advance. Choose the seats nearby the exit door. The price shall include ferry fare from Banyuwangi/Ketapang (East Java) to Bali. Range of bus fare is about IDR 300-400 thousands per way.

Train: the fastest train would be Argo Bromo executive train for Jakarta-Surabaya route. But then you should take a bus from Surabaya to Bali. Train ticket shall be booked in advance in Gambir station, Central Jakarta. The bus fare shall also include the ferry fare.

Travel taxi: I hardly heard there is a travel taxi for route as far as Jakarta-Bali. But maybe there is one with obviously more expensive price than bus. Again, price shall include ferry fare.

Chartered car: I think it won't be efficient to charter a car. You should charter the driver too, pay his expenses, plus buy gasoline along the way. Too much hassle.

First thing to remember: book early. As we all know, December is a peak season for traveling.

    Have a joyful ride!

  3. oh.. you'll get the most memorable journey. I used to do that before. From jakarta you better take the executive train to Jogjakarta, you'll enjoy the most beautiful scene along the the trip: the rice field and the farmers, the fishing men along some rivers, the playing kids in the remoted villages, the half nude ladies washing clothes in the river, an so on.

In Jogja you go to borobudur (the most ancient temple) ride a cart pulled by the horses or the tricycle ride by a man.

From Jogja and the city around (Solo, Semarang, Jepara-the carved-teak city) you can go to Surabaya by executive bus and you'll find another wonderful scene along the road. Take a nice hotel in Surabaya about 1 or 2 day while vising some recreational spot.

From Surabaya you better take a taxi to Bali in package price. It needs about 8 hour driving but dont worry you wont be bored for the various scene and sight you never got before!

    Have the most great journy!

  4. well...

when my school go to Study Tour, we use Bus from Jakarta to Bali (Or back to Bali from Jakarta for more specific), its take about 1 and half day to be back to Bali (We departing at noon from Jakarta and arrived at night by tommorow

  5. You can use trains to travel to major cities in Java like Bandung, Semarang, Jogjakarta or Surabaya.

I personally don't recommend bus since the drivers are reckless and most of the buses are poorly maintained. But if you want to go to smaller cities which is not passed through by railroad then bus is the only option.

To reach Bali you need to use the ferry from Banyuwangi port.

  6. I suggest you to take executive train from Jakarta to Yogyakarta, here you can start explore tons of attractions in Yogya, Cental Java, East Java and then Bali. You can find good and cheap land travel providers here http://cheap-travelindo.blogspot.com/200...

  7. You needn't make reservations. Transport is readily available on the day or slightly before for long distance trains / ferries. There are tons of great places to stop on the way across Java, so you'd probably be better off getting the bus. Don't forget Sumatra! That's amazing too.
