Have audio NEED VIDEO?

I just bought a surround sound system and I have it working when I play a DVD, However I try and hook my Xbox up to it and all i get is Audio. I want surround sound for my TV, DVD and Xbox. what do i need to do? Mind you I am not the most advanced person with this technology.

  1. It could be your Xbox. If it has a standard/HD plug, you have to make sure it is swiched to TV or HDTV, whichever you have. Otherwise, It might help if you connect your surround unit to your TV, and keep all of your componets conected to the TV. That way, anything that plays through the TV will play through the surround system. You just need an audio chord (red/white) that will connect into the back of your tv in a "sound out" slot, and then to plug it in to your surround unit.

  2. You have to connect your TV to the video output of your surround system if it has one. Then just connect the audio and video of your xbox to input 1 and your dvd to input 2 of the surround system.
