  1. Your times are ok for a freshman, and they have alot of potential to become better with training. By the end of your season, u can really get under 5 minutes. Im 13 and i run about 5minutes flat, not that ur slow im just a bit better than usually. (sorry if that sounds like bragging.) If you are in the beginning lanes, such as 1, 2, 3, or 4th, take a 10-20m sprint out front, but DONT KILL YOURSELF. You do this to not get squashed. Believe me im 5ft competing against 6ft kids happens to me all the time.

    Also, if u can, ask around to find peoples best times, n be friendly about it.Now try n set a goal for what place u want to get in, such as top ten,six, or watever.

    Now just the basics: make sure your well stretched, and confident.Also be relaxed.

    Good luck at the race i hope u do well!

  2. Your times are already good for a freshman, imo. I'm sure your training is working for you and it's too late to try different training for this race. A few quick things to try our;

    1) Diet. Eat healthy, wholesome foods up to the race. Try to stay away from meats and fried foods. The harder the food is to break down, the more energy it takes from the body.

    2) Try to get between 7-8 hours of sleep the night before. Too little or too much can make you feel sluggish.

    3) If there is anything you can do that will make you think you can run faster, do it. Whether this be wearing a lucky pair of socks or shoes to a pre race ritual do it. If there is something that you think might improve your speed, do it. If you think shaving your legs, arms, pits will make you faster do it. You would be surprised what your thoughts can do for you. Anything you do that you think will give you an advantage will. The mind is very strong.
