we are really looking forward to it. Has anyone been on this boat and what did you think of it and the service? Also what are the best excursions to go on? we're going on the 2 wk Med cruise, my Mother is nearly 80, bit frail and wobbly on her legs but otherwise fit and healthy. Thanks!

  2. I've been on RCCL's Navigator and it's an incredible ship! It's not new, but it's newer than most of their fleet. You could be thinking of Freedom or Liberty of the Seas...which are Royal Caribbean's newest ships.

Navigator is in RCCL's 'Voyager' Class ships, and to be quite honest with you, I don't want to travel onboard an 'less' of a ship now that I've seen this class!

The service was out of this world. They will take very good care of you.

Things not to miss onboard would be the ice skating show, and the midnight parades in the Royal Promenade. Try Johnny Rocket's for a fun, 50's style burger diner. The spa and workout room is very nice as well. Also, just outside of the workout room, there's an observation window that looks out into the bridge of the ship. It's kind of a neat thing to see.

The one thing onboard Navigator you have to do, and this is my DO NOT MISS! is to eat at Chops. It's a small steakhouse restaurant near the Windjammer Buffet and it is by far the BEST steaks I've ever had. You actually have to pay an additional $20 per person to eat there, but believe me....it's well worth it. They still give you as much food as you like, and the steaks were phenomenal. I had the 'petit' filet and it was easily the circumference of a dessert plate and at least 3 inches thick. Perfectly cooked too.

The Royal Promenade is quite a show. It's pretty much a mall inside the ship. There are rooms that have windows into the Promenade. They cost about $50 extra and I think are worth it. It's neat to have a front row seat for all the festivities that go on there.

I found that my favorite place onboard was to the very furthest point of the bow. There's a helicopter pad there, and some benches. My husband and I would often sit out there late at night and marvel at the stars. It's a very neat place. The wind in your face, the stars above you and nothing but the sound of the ocean in front of you.

We were on Navigator when it was sailing the eastern Caribbean so I can't recommend any excursions for you. You'll love the ship though. Have a fantastic time!
