  1. Sorry but the only people that can garnish Social Security is the I.R.S. and Social Security period.

  2. You can't attach social security benefits, welfare, SSI, etc.

  3. You can not garnish SS benefits but if they deposit it into a checking account you can walk into the bank with your Judgment and take the funds.

Beware they can come back if they are so inclined and it sounds like they might be and declare these were SS checks deposited into the account.  Heck I'd try it but then again you do not need the aggravation of them coming back on you.

Is this a large sum of money?  If not concentrate on you and your health.  Good Luck.

  4. next time sue someone who actually has money

  5. You can't.  Social security checks are protected.  The only ways they can be garnished is for Federal stuff like unpaid taxes and things like that.

  6. I guess the amt is important, 4years should tell you unless you can physicaly take it from them you will not see it, Having cancer this should be on the back burner, for money is no reason to not get treatment you need, I don't know how bad the cancer is but if it's serious, stop worrying about these bums! plus whatever bills you accumulate you just pay what you can afford, but put all your energy into beating this cancer. not on this stuff!  Hope you feel better!

  7. I believe you can, but it also will depend on the state laws where the person lives. Florida for instance has laws that protect people's assets from judgments. That's why OJ hasn't paid out a red cent yet out of the millions he was sued for.
