I get horrendous, awful cramps, and I've always taken Advil or Aleve because they're the only things that work. Well, now my doctor told me that I can't take Advil or Aleve anymore because I have really bad stomach problems. But the thing is that Tylenol does not work for me. And I read about Tylenol and cramps and it said that it "will help the pain but does not have the effect on the prostagladins" (the things that cause the uterine contractions. So what the h**l am I supposed to do?! DO NOT TELL ME TO EXERCISE. You have no idea how bad these cramps are. Heating pads do not help, hot baths do not help, exercise does not help. I need drugs. I just need to know which drugs will a) Not hurt my stomach and b) Actually get rid of these cramps.

  1. Hemp seeds are supposed to help.

You can find further information in a web search for "hemp seeds" + "menstrual cramps".

  2. I don't know if there are any other drugs you can really take, try chocolate or bananas.  Maybe call your doctor or a nurse if you can't reach your doctor.  They may be able to prescribe something or tell you exactly what to take.

My Favorite Herbs to Relieve Menstrual Cramps

    Step1

Choose one of the herbs listed above to try when you have menstrual cramps.

    Step2

If the herb calls for a tea, use one tea bag for one cup boiling water. You can substitute 1 teaspoon of the dried herb and 1 tablespoon of the fresh herb if you don't have a tea bag.

    Step3

Drink one cup of tea several times a day or as needed until your cramps subside.

    Step4

Cramp bark is an herb that seems to work better as a tincture. You can find cramp bark tincture online or at your local health food store.

    Step5

To take the tincture, add 30 to 40 drops into a small cup of warm water and drink quickly. Do this three times a day.
