So this might sound like a dumb question, but I just had direct tv hooked up and my mom said he hooked up the vcr, which looks right, but I can't figure out which input or button to press to get to the vcr screen. Does anyone know what to press??

there are 5 inputs - #4 is the direct tv screen- but the others are all black. Its just a simple vcr hooked up to a sharp tv with hd. Any help please!!!

  1. Look at the back of the TV and identify the number of the input jack(s) the VCR is connected to. On the remote, use the "Input" button. Each time you hit the "Input" button, you will scroll to the next video source. Do this until you select your VCR. If by chance your mother has used a coax cable between the VCR and your TV, then use the "Input" button to select "TV" and tune to either channel 3 or 4 to select the VCR video source.

P.S. Remember to turn on the VCR before selecting the video source on your TV or all you are going to see is black screen.
