I know that gas prices in other countries (Europe) have been higher than the US for a long time due to taxes, etc... - My question is have other countries noticed he dramatic change in the price of gas that we in the US have? We have pretty much doubled over the last year which is why people are freaking out about it.

  1. Yes, I understand in Venezuela gas is down to the equivalent of 28 cents per gallon and in Iran 18 cents.

  2. Yes, prices are going up in other countries as well.  Most modern nations still have higher prices than the US, but their prices have not gone up as much recently.  This is because the US dollar itself has gotten so weak.  When oil products have to be purchased in Canadian dollars, which are now equal to the US dollar, when two years ago they were only worth 80 cents US the price in the US goes up, even without demand increases.  Add on the demand increases from modernizing nations like India and China and you get the overall increase as well.

It should be noted that the Canadian dollar is not really all that strong, the American dollar is just really weak after a republican government racked up trillions in debt fighting a ridiculous war over control of oil that it is losing.  They drove the value of your dollar into the ground.

  3. While the weak dollar would make it more apparent, yes Europe has definitely observed an increase in gas prices. Some airlines have even had to ground some of their fleet because of it.

  4. yes they have gone sky high. almost twice as much as ours. I recently just went out of the us to Cayman Islands and thier its 7.25 and i also just went to sweeden and its like 12 bucks. We are sort of luck not having like over 10 dollars. It seems ike it stinks for us but the other countries are really the ones suffering
