Have got a eurovox box

Question

Have got a eurovox box and it always says the code needs updating. A mate of mine however has one that looks like it updates itself, how come his is ok and mine keeps asking for the codes? Also tried to download the chatterbox toolbar but unsure what to do? can someone give me an idiots guide to follow
