What type of sealant or refinishing can be put on a brand new table to make it scratch resistant. I don't want to buy a pad. It will hide the table's beauty. I love the table and should really have thought twice before buying it. In my busy household it will get scratched with our normal use. Thanks!

  1. I have refinished furniture for over 25 yrs and there is nothing out there that is really 'scratch resistant'. The closest thing I have found is the hard 'Acrylic Lacquer'. It's kind of like the finish on car bodies...but as we all know those get scratched too. Unless you can afford a large piece of glass to cover the top....you are out of luck.

I wish I knew of a finish that great....I would use it all the time.

Even the Urethane finishes that have hardeners in them will get scratches. Just use the small place settings when you eat at table. You can take them off when no one is eating...or when you have important company over to eat.
