One of our friends introduced us to this a few years back. We noticed when we would visit them their children were always fully dressed down to the socks and shoes. We commented on it one day and they said they would not do it any different. They said how it made leave the house or going outside so much easier. Also since they were in the habit since they were very young it made school morning less strestful as it was just like any other day.

Well at the time our children were still young so we started doing it as well and it has made a BIG differents in out home. They pick out their clothes to wear the night before and are acustomed to get dress when they get out of bed even on weekends. We still have our lazy days, but as a norm the kids are up and dress with 20 of waking up. Yes we too now get comments from guest about it. We found consistancy is the key.

Does anyone else dress their kids to the shoes every day as a norm?

  1. yes i do. i think its the greatest way to go:)

  2. well on a week day, like when I have to leave for school,

then I get up right away and put clothes on.

On Saturdays I'll wear my pajamas all daylong if i don't go out.

I only put shoes on when I go outside,

and I don't wear schools at school, I go around in my socks.

I don't like to wear socks at home though.

  3. We always encouraged our children to get dressed in the mornings, but not the shoes.  I'm not sure where you live, but most Canadians I know don't wear shoes in the house, even as guests, so it would be teaching my kids the wrong idea.  Also, if my children are too young to put on their own shoes, I would not want them ready to go outside without me.

I was raised with getting dressed as being a big part of getting ready for your day, and feel "lazy" if I lounge around in pj's during the day.  I have modelled that for my children, which is probably just as important as getting them to do it.

Don't most people get their children dressed in the morning anyway?  Many people have jobs and daycare to get to.  What is it that you are doing that is so different  from that?

  4. didn't you ask this yesterday???

  5. my son still wets at night, so as soon as he gets up every day, he showers, brushes teeth and gets dressed. but not down to the shoes

i have 2 babies and him, so we never leave the house without careful planning, so everyone does have adequate time to get ready. so, i can see how this would be convenient for others though

  6. yup mi mom made me do it in elementry, skool. and even if she didnt i probably still wud hav anyway. i was excited for skool bac then.

  7. Clothes are always laid out the night before. Sneakers and socks placed in the back pack if there's phy ed the next day. In the morning the kids get up and eat, brush their teeth & then get dressed. Then we brush hair, put on shoes and head out the door. This has always worked well for us and that way food and tooth paste don't make their way onto the kids clothing either!

  8. Yup.......My son is up when I'm up and he is dressed and ready.
