With a creature that is similar in features to it?

Well, as one claims, we may have evolved from an ape like mammal. There is only a small percentage of our DNA that is different. What I am asking is, Did other animals evolve the same way. Did dogs evolve from a creature that looked somewhat like a dog already? What about a fish, or a giraffe?

  1. Yep.  Every change is very small, so a dog is never going to give birth to something that doesn't look almost exactly like a dog, and so on.  But very small changes build up over time until the new 'dog' isn't the same species as, say, the one from 300 generations ago - they couldn't have reproduced with each other.

  2. Every animal pases through evolution.

which means someday some species might become as intelligent as us humans.

When species reproduce offsprings, their young may be stronger or weaker than them. If they are weak they do not survive and thus die as they are killed by predators. on the other hand if the offsprings are stronger they get to live and when they grow up they produce their offsprings, which have their same chromosones and genes which will result in those offsprings to be strong. so the strong species get to live and produce more succesful offsprings.

(this leads us to the fact that you cant say humans have souls that go up in heaven and animals do not, as somedays we were in the same level as animals, and somday animals will be as intelligent as us humans)
