Have question about electrical wiring in garage?

I get home last night and the garage light is off, i go back to get my dogs bowl and the light is on and then 30 mins later it is off again. On a couple of occasions I've went in there and the radio will be on, I figured my husband left it on. Until last night and he said the same thing has happened to him before. Now the first radio that was in there no longer works. He says it could be haunted. Please help

turn the radio k**b OFF. if it then turns on you need help.

Most likely you have a short...probably the wires are loose at the breaker box or a connection at the start of the system somewhere close to it.  Unless the radio spins between stations and tells you to "get out" then it is not haunted.  You need to go to Church though.  The breaker box has wires in it that are HOT all the time, so don't mess around in there unless you know what you are doing.  A really good book worth having in the "Black and Decker Advanced home Wiring".  It shows you color pics and is super helpful.

It's most likely some sort of short in the wires get them checked before it starts a fire.

Every one is saying it is a short. I don't think it is. If it was a short, it would be tripping the breaker all the time (and making a big bang everytime!!). It sounds like a loose connection somewhere. It could be anywhere from the garage back to the switchboard. I would start by checking that the connections are screwed in tight to the circuit breaker (both line and load side).

Let me guess......... the light switch also controlled the plug for the radio too..... In that case the light switch is bad and needs replacement...    and you do not have a "short" , You have a loose/ bad connection, causing "intermittent operation of devices"... NOT a Ghost

A bad connection that is heating up and then opens, at that point the power is off. Do turn off all of the switches and start tracing the problem from there. Or call a qualified professional electrician.

i would check the wiring, it's more then likely a short. mice and squirrels like to chew on wiring you may find one fried in the ceiling or wall
