Have scientists concluded on the correlation between major earthquakes & the volcanoes that erupt soon after?

I haven't looked very detailed into the dates that would complete a timeline, but just from watching headline news its seems that whenever a major earthquake happens there are usually volcano eruptions within a few weeks. Creating an advanced warning system for this would be very advanced and who knows if it could even be done. I just wonder if any of the national and global earthquake/seismology centers monitor activity like this and have made advances in technology that could be put towards a warning system.

  1. Well the reason is because when a major earthquake hits that is caused by a large tectonic movement of the plates.  This shakes things up (no pun intended) and will often create new areas for magma to surge up through the crust and create a volcano.  Often times when large tectonic events happen like an earthquake the same process will lead to another large event like a volcano becuase it is similar processes that create each.
