Have somebody been to Loire Valley in France? Is it fun? expensive? unforgettable?

I confirm what said there, if you like castles and museums, it is a good place, the name of the place in Poitiers is "futuroscope".

I was there over 10 years ago, and i was living in Paris at the time, so I can't give a current idea of the cost.  I didn't think it was that expensive, cause I went for a weekend.

The Chambord chateau was one of my favorites.  they are all impressive for different reasons.  Some the building is more beautiful, some have big green gardens with statues and fountains, some have more formal gardens.  Regardless, they are all gorgeous inside.

At one chateau, there was a hot balloon taking off in a field. At another I chanced upon a kind of horse and buggy race on the grounds.

I've been there and would love to go back.  If you are thinking about it - go!

Loire valley is great!  We have been several times.  Last year we went to Amboise where the chateau is reputed to contain the grave of Leonardo da Vinci.  Lovely gardens and scenery. We found that the prices in local shops and restaurants to be very reasonable considering that it is a tourist area.  There are many other good places to stay and visit in the Loire Valley so you need a guide book to help you decide which would be of interest to you.

Expensive? Europe is expensive, the Euro being strong. Unforgettable? certainly its climate makes it the "garden" of France, the landscape is "soft" visit Chinon, Chenoncaux, Blois, Azay le Rideau etc.. in Tours there is a museum called"Musee du compagnonage" well worth visiting it is about craftsmanship. Fun? in Poitiers there is a whole park dedicated to Audio/video art (sorry can't remember the name at the moment) on and on.

Not far from Paris, Bordeaux, Brittany etc..go!

if you love castles, wine & great food the loire valley is one of the areas of france you must visit!!!

prices vary but expensive depends on your budget.  lot's of hotels & restaurants to choose from.
