I realize that some time has passed but I was interested if any of the flooded land ever was rebuilt for residential use? I also wondered if the displaced people received any compensation for their land? I live in Canada and it seems that over time this story has lost momentum and I just wondered if redevelopment came to a halt ?Thanks for any input.

  1. Yes I have cousins that live in New Orleans and a lot of it has been rebuilt over the years but it's still far from done.

  2. Ninth ward is still in rebuild stage.  Many of the victims can not afford to rebuild their homes. Some do not want to rebuild on their former land.  Compensation is given only if residence rebuild on former property.   I don't know the percentage but many of the people who lived in ninth ward were low income or welfare recipients. Unless someone build low income housing, there is no place for them to return.
