Despite what many believe most team who win the NAB cup go on to have decent seasons.

Only Carlton is the exception.

St Kilda back in 2004 and went on to make the preliminary finals, Geelong won in 2006, had a relatively ordinary year but bounced back by having a really good 2007 in which they broke many records.

I don't think there is any "kiss of death" associated with the pre season as much as many would like to think there is.
